Cora Harrison

September 6, 2015 by bookworm

Cora-Harrison Cora Harrison was a school principal before she wrote her two Austen – inspired novels written for young readers. She has since published twenty-six children’s novels, among which “I was Jane Austen’s Best Friend” and the latest “Jane Austen Stole My Boyfriend” both published by Macmillan UK.

My Lady Judge was her first book in a Celtic historical crime series for adults that introduces Mara, Brehon of the Burren. I’ve enjoyed these stories, murder mysteries, set in The Burren, a tiny, rocky area just south of Galway Bay.

The series features Mara, a Brehon, who solves crimes and pronounces judgement in 16th century Ireland. The mysteries are satisfying, Mara herself is immensely likeable and I love the glimpse of ancient Irish Law.
