The Little Book of the Hidden People

By Alda Sigmundsdottir

The Little Book of the Hidden People

You could call this an Icelandic version of Grimm’s Fairy Tales. Like Grimm’s, there are clear morals to each story that reinforce cultural values.

Each tale is followed by explanations of that story’s cultural and historical context. Interesting. Not dry. I would have liked to learn more about the Hidden People though.

I enjoyed it but I’m easy to please when it comes to anything Icelandic.
